The Journey Continues:Day 20 of temperature

Richard is still averaging about twice a day to take the Tylenol.  He had temperature this morning also but not quite up to the point that the doctor said it needed to be before he took the Tylenol.  He said he may feel a little better but to me it seemed like he had a rough night.  He was coughing quite a bit.  Maybe it was me that had the rough night, waking up every time he coughed.  We will be heading out for the cat scan and to see the doctor this morning.  I can't thank you prayer warriors enough!!  THANKS!!!!

The Journey Continues:19 days of fever, quick update

Richard had another rough night and started this morning off with a temperature high enough to take the Tylenol.  Honestly I think the Tylenol, not only helps his fever but his achy body as well.  He has told me to call the doctor again today and tell them that he wants something done today even if it is just getting him started on antibiotics.  He said he can tell that his right lung is not working right. It seems tight and hurts. He also is achy all over.  Guess what?  He did go to work.  He is still stubborn even in the midst of pain.  Thanks for keeping those prayers going!

The Journey Continues:18 days of fever

The 18th day of fever ushered in a very tired and cranky husband.  Richard actually told me to call the doctor and tell them that he was sick of this and that he felt lousy.  He is getting very short of breath but so far has only had to use Tylenol once today.

They ran  more blood work today and on Wednesday he will have a cat scan of his lungs.  He will see his bone marrow doctor and possible the infectious disease doctor on Wednesday also.  He was hoping that they would start him on a strong antibiotic but they want to see him and the results of the test first.

Pray that the doctors can figure out what is going and that Richard will get some relief.  He is exhausted.  Thanks so much for all the prayers!! : )

The Coach

For those of you that know me you probably have picked up on the fact that I love basketball.  I tell all those that will listen that it is THE game.  I loved playing the game as a youth and I still love watching it.   Two of my boys even had to endure me as their coach when they played at the YMCA.  They got yelled at just as much as the other players.  Sometimes though it seems like the instructions that I yelled fell on deaf ears.

I was ecstatic when I learned several years ago that Oklahoma City was going to be home to a pro basketball team and have been a fan since then.  I haven't made it to any of the  games but I follow them and watch them on the television.  I even coach them but the don't hear me.  I shout instructions to them, the coach and the referees but it falls on deaf ears.

I was thinking about that yesterday and it hit me.  How many times have I been shouted at, whispered to or read instructions but it just fell on deaf ears.  How many times have I ignored that still small voice trying to instruct me but just closed my ears.  I don't even have the excuse that someone was yelling at me from the other side of the television or that I was on a loud basketball court.  I just didn't listen.  I need to open my ears, hear the instructions and take action.  I need to be a team player.

Just as basketball players have a coach so do Christians. Are you on THE team?  Do you listen to the Coach?

The Journey Continues:Short update on the 17th day of fever

Richard was running a low fever this morning.  He did have to take Tylenol twice yesterday.  He is still coughing and throwing up.  He is still getting winded easily and still feels lousy but he is having longer bouts without his temperature getting to the point to take Tylenol.   Thanks again for all the prayers!

The Journey Continues:16 days of fever

Richard still had a fever this morning but not high enough to take Tylenol.  He did take it though last night because it had went up to 101.9.  He did make it through most of yesterday with a lower temperature and I can tell the difference when it is lower.  He is more alert and doesn't sleep so much.   He was ready for the weekend and more time to rest.

We are praying that he is on the down slide to no FEVER.  He has still been coughing up stuff but not quite as much.  The PA told me yesterday that if his temperature keeps going up and he keeps coughing they will put him back on an antibiotic.  He does have an appointment on Wednesday.

The year since his bone marrow transplant has been such a short but long year with  many road blocks but for the most part Richard has kept a positive attitude.  He has had some bad days but we all do.  I am proud of him and the way he has responded to cancer and transplant.  I can only hope that I would have as much strength and endurance as he has had and still does.

The Journey Continues:Fever is lower

This is the 15th day of fever but it is lower.  Richard's temperature has been running around 100 to 101 since yesterday evening but that is below the point to take Tylenol.  The doctor has instructed him to not take anything unless it goes above 101.2.  He still is coughing up green gunk and throwing up some but of course he is at work even though he still feels lousy.  He is still stubborn also!

Richard has drawn his strength from God and from the prayers going up in his behalf.  We will be forever grateful!!
