The Journey Continues:A quick update again

Yesterday's chemo and IVIG went well.  The only thing different was waiting a little bit longer.  I think it had to do with the fact that every chair was taken with other patients and it just took longer for the pharmacy to keep up and get the order back to the nurses.  Richard's counts are still doing good.  Most of his counts are still in the normal range!

Thanks for the prayers and support!!!

Memorial Day 2013

Memorial Day is a day set aside to pause and reflect on the sacrifices of our soldiers.  Many have died for me and for you.  They have died defending our freedom and trying to free others.

I always remember this saying on Memorial Day.  "All gave some but some gave all!"  Those somes are fresh on their family's mind today. There also are new names that have been added to the somes list this year.

We need to pray for the families of those that gave all!

Memorial Day also reminds of a day many, many years ago when my Savior gave His all!  He died that you, I and the somes could live forever.  He does give you a choice.  Your choice will lead you to Heaven or Hell.  What will you choose?

John 3:16-17

New International Version (NIV)
16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.

1 Peter 5:8

New International Version (NIV)

Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.

The Pope and his wisdom

I was appalled when I read that the Pope had said that all, including atheist, will go to heaven if they do good deeds!! I have to disagree!!  I don't know what Bible he is reading but that is not what mine says!

GOOD DEEDS are not our path to heaven!! JESUS IS!!!  Got that!! JESUS IS!!!!!!!!!!!  Anybody, including those who do not believe can do good deeds!!!

The only way to heaven is through Jesus!!  HE is the truth and the light!  No one comes to the Father except through him.  If you don't go through Jesus you WILL NOT go to heaven!!!

There will be many that are mislead!  Sometimes intentionally, sometimes just out of mistaken belief.  Always check out what you hear especially if it doesn't ring true.  The Pope may be wise but he is misleading many with this statement!!!!

Put the words of the Bible in your heart, hear the true teachers, listen to the Holy Spirit and remember the only way to Heaven is through Jesus Christ!!  He is the ONE!!

Where does your wisdom come from?

John 14:6

New International Version (NIV)
Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

1 John 4:1-3

New International Version (NIV)

Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and even now is already in the world.

The Journey Continues:A very important date

I let Friday, May the 17th slide by without any thought to the date.  What was I thinking?  I guess I wasn't!  Friday was Richard's birthday.  It was not the birthday of getting older but the birthday of his new immune system.  It was two years ago May 17th that he received a chance for more life.  He had been told that without a bone marrow transplant and a new immune system he would not make it.

Even though this is a few days late I want to thank everybody that have signed up to give their stem cells.  There are many people saved each year through the  donation of a new immune system. Thank-you, Thank-you, Thank-you!!  Also a huge thank-you to the woman that gave to my husband!  It is a forever gift.

Now it has not been a smooth road but I truly believe that you have extended my husband's life.  His life has been at times like the tornadoes that spread through Oklahoma yesterday leaving much havoc behind.  It sometimes seems like the winds have blown him to the brink of death and back again but he survived.  He has been able to survive because of your gift and the many prayers going up on his behalf!

Now Richard has no guarantee how long his life will be but neither do I.  God is the one that knows our days.  His plan is not always our plan but His plan is the best.  His plan included the many that will choose to help extend a life by giving of themselves.  His plan also included the gift of His Son so that we might live!
His gift is a forever gift!!

I thank my God for you that give and I thank God for the gift of His Son and eternal life!

I hope that I will see you someday in Heaven!!

John 14:6

New International Version (NIV)
Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truthand the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

The Heart of a Wellston (OK.) Tiger:The first Wellston band EVER(that I know of)

This past weekend I returned to my hometown with several family members for the Alumni Parade.  This also invoked a trip down memory lane.  The town does look different than it did in my days of growing up there and attending Wellston Public Schools.  Certain stores are gone and  there are a few new ones but for the most part the people are the same.  They are still down to earth, kind and caring.

The marching band brought back so many fun memories.  I was a member of the very first band ever at Wellston Public Schools.  The first band was started the year I was in seventh grade.  I became a part of the woodwind section with the clarinet being my chosen instrument.  Actually it was the directors choice for me. I wanted to play the flute but I guess he didn't like the way I couldn't get noise much less a note to come forth from the instrument.

We were a concert band.  I was reminded by a friend, Cathy, that we did march once down to main street and back but I am thinking that I must have missed that day because I don't remember it.  I do remember a day  in high school that we marched around a field near the school, on a Saturday but we never marched in a parade.

Susan, another friend and fellow clarinet player reminded me of our first ever band concert.  Many parents, friends and neighbors were there as we embarked on the road of becoming a school band.  The music was going along pretty well until the squeak.  Yes that is right. The squeak!  Now normally a squeak is not that big of a deal unless you are me and Susan. We laughed and we laughed.  We thought it was so very funny.  As the squeak happened I did not move the clarinet from my mouth.  Oh no, I was laughing through the clarinet and as the sounds reached the ears of those in the room  there was an explosion of  laughter.  Not so funny the next day!  I am not sure if the director talked to Susan but he gave me a lecture that I still haven't forgot. He told me that I had better not ever do that again or I was dead meat!(or something similar) I  think it was probably Susan that squeaked but I am sure that she will tell you that it was me.  Don't listen to her!!

One thing that I learned from that experience was that if you squeak you just keep going! Oh sometimes you might point toward the flute or saxophone section but you just keep playing.

My life is just like a clarinet squeak.  The squeaks are my mistakes and sins.  I even point at others sometimes after a squeak.  Sometimes I even laugh but then I hear the voice of God.  It is not a lecture telling me that I better not do that again.  He knows that  the squeak of sin will happen again.  It is not a lecture of how I will be dead meat if I don't stop squeaking.  The voice comes with a calm peace that woos me and reminds me of how my life should look.  The voice of God reminds me of His love and of His knowing of my sin.  His voice reminds me to not blame others.  His voice is forgiving and loving and reminds me of when I joined His family!  He reminds me of where my hometown will be!  One day I will join Him and my Savior for the best Alumni parade ever!  I will march in that parade!

Will you be there?

The Journey Continues:A quick update from Wednesday

Richard's chemo day went pretty well. He actually stayed in a good mood most of the time. (LOL)  All of his counts were great except for one.  His kidney function levels were higher than they have been.  They had been heading back down almost to where they should be. They thought that he was probably a little dehydrated.  He had mowed the two previous evenings and had sweated a lot.  He was told to drink, drink and drink some more.  He is feeling the effects of the chemo which makes him tired and sometimes sick to his stomach but he just keeps going.

Thanks again for all the prayers!! They are what helps us through this journey!

James 5:16

New International Version (NIV)
16 Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.

The Thunder didn't roll last night

It has been a long time since I have stayed up late, well other than the other night.(Thunder game)  Normally I would go to bed on time when I have a trip to the city the next day but last night the Thunder game was really close.  I stayed up until it was over.  Did I agree with every call?  No. Did I agree with every play? No. I still love the Thunder though. Hopefully the Thunder has learned much from this loss!  I also was wondering why on earth that somebody can't figure out a better time to to start the game!  How about 7:00 p.m.?  Don't they know that the Thunder should be playing prime time?

I had a really hard to falling asleep once I got in bed.  Was I thinking and wondering about the Thunder? No!

I was thinking about how so many times that maybe I should stay up late.  Maybe I should be praying and listening for God's call!  Maybe I should be listening for His plays.  Will I want to do everything He ask me to do?  No!  Will He always allow me to do His will in prime time? Probably Not!  I should be willing to listen, do what He ask and stay up late if that is what He wants.  I must be willing to listen, obey and work at whatever hour that I am ask!

Sometimes I don't roll the way it seems that I should but that doesn't always mean I haven't won!  Sometimes the lesson is the win!

What about you?  Are you a team player?  Are you ready to join the game?  The Coach is waiting?

The Journey Continues:A quick Monday update

Several people have asked me about Richard so I thought I would do a quick post.  He will have chemo again Wednesday and then see the Doctor later that afternoon.  We did get a call a few days after his last appointment telling us that his CMV counts are high.  This means that he does have an infection but they are not going to do anything about it unless it hits the 500 mark on the counts.  He is doing blood work on Tuesday and Wednesday and he is not happy about it.   He does still get tired easier than normal but he is still elated that he can have a garden and do yard work.  He has not got the garden going yet but he has worked in the yard.

Thanks again to everyone that is praying for Richard.  We so much appreciate it!!
